A collection of musings on life, literature, education, the mind, and any other ramblings. Perspectives of the world. A manifesto of existence. These are my memories of the ghosts of myself, whether real or imaginary, they have shaped me, rebuilt me, breathed life into my essence and continue to do so. Life is the rock we all push. We call it our burden, but really, it is our privilege. Latin mantras I live by: per aspera ad astra, and alis volat propriis.

I think that we are like stars. Something happens to burst us open; but when we burst open and think we are dying, we’re actually turning into a supernova. And then when we look at ourselves again, we see that we’re suddenly more beautiful than we ever were before.

These posts are not short and sweet. They are reflective essays, and updates will be less regular to give you, my beautiful readers, time to absorb them. Leave a comment when you have finished, or send a message if you would like a piece edited, updated, or even if you can contribute. Writing should be collaborative, and through engaging with each other, we can grow into something greater than ourselves, an essence beyond the one writer with her golden pen.

‘Be a lamp to yourself. Be your own confidence. Hold on to the truth within yourself as the only truth.’ – Buddha.

‘Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.’ – Howard Thurman.

‘Your life is a sacred journey. It is about change, growth, discovery, movement, transformation, continuously expanding your version of what is possible, stretching your soul, learning to see clearly and deeply, listening to your intuition, taking courageous challenges at every step along the way… You can only go forward, shaping your life story into a magnificent tale of triumph, of healing, of courage, of beauty, of wisdom, of power, of dignity, and of love.’ – Caroline Adams.

‘True beauty, the kind that doesn’t fade or wash off, takes time. It takes incredible endurance. It is the slow drip that creates the stalactite, the shaking of the Earth that creates mountains, the constant pounding of the waves that breaks up the rocks and smooths the rough edges. And from the violence, the furor, the raging of the winds, the roaring of the waters, something better emerges, something that would have otherwise never existed. And so we endure. We have faith that there is purpose. We hope for things we can’t see. We believe there are lessons in loss, power in love, and that we have within us the potential for a beauty so magnificent, our bodies can’t contain it.’ – Amy Harmon.

‘The world exists to set us free.’ – Desikachar.

‘If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself. If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of self-transformation.’ – Lao-Tzu.
